Marie’s experience

During 2007 a family member became seriously ill and impacted Marie quite dramatically – whereby she decided to care for her family during a very emotional time. It was during this time Marie says she realised how precious ‘life’ is. Following her loved one’s death – and requiring the services of a funeral company – she realised the impact of dealing with such arrangements.

Marie says “I was overwhelmed emotionally at the time, but I was fortunate as my Husband and Father-in Law worked within the funeral industry – and I was provided with all the information I required, and was taken care of greatly through a time when there is great sadness and turmoil”

Role in the business

Asking Marie, what difference she could make to the industry.”well, we are a family run business, we are independent and not a large conglomerate, but most importantly, we understand grief – calling on our own experiences having gone through the pain ourselves – allowing us to provide a very unique and indivdual service, providing people with a personal touch to their loved one’s farewell.for me, this is second to none”

Marie Demarco

Marie Demarco

Team Co-ordinator

Marie’s experience

Marie started her working life with the Common Services Agency, as a Data Entry Operator before deciding to open her own Nursery, following the birth of her first Child. She successfully ran the nursery for many years, interacting with a wide range of people until the arrival of her second child, when she decided to spend more time at home and became a full time carer.

Role in the business

Since then, Marie has run a family business selling to the public and trade before joining our firm – outwith the family relationship, it is her diverse background, dedication to family and life experiences as a mother that makes Marie especially suitable for her role. It is paramount to us that Marie wants to “make a difference” to people, especially in their time of need.

Tom Osborne

Tom Osborne

Tom’s’s experience

Tom has joined the team, following 16 years funeral industry experience.

Tom started within the industry as a Casual Driver – and keen to learn more about the industry, moved into arranging funerals – and through the years, was involved in both the administrative and conducting of funerals – thereafter, becoming Manager with a large multi national organisation, looking after several of their funeral homes and extensively involved in the contractual side of the industry.

Role in the business

Tom says “joining Deery Funerals will allow me to return back to being more personally involved with bereaved families whom are experiencing great loss – understanding their needs at that time, and guiding them through the funeral arrangements”

When speaking with Tom – he conveys how important it is to appreciate and acknowledge how bereft people are when loss is experienced within a family – He also feels that with joining a family run business it will allow him to deal with bereaved families on a more personal level, which he says has been lost over the years within multi national funeral companies.
